Two expats held in drug smuggling case

MUSCAT: The Directorate-General for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances arrested two Asians for attempting to smuggle 305 capsules of psychotropic substances into the Sultanate via the Muscat International Airport.


The defendants were referred to the public prosecution for completion of the investigation.


Two arrested for drug possession

The Directorate-General for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances at North Al Batinah Police Command arrested two citizens in the Wilayats of Saham and Shinas on charges of possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking and abusing. Police found psychotropic capsules and drug abuse instruments in the possession of the defendants.


The defendants were referred to the public prosecution for completion of the investigation.


Two held for home robberies


The Directorate of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation at Al Buraimi Governorate Police Command arrested two citizens in connection with a series of home invasion robberies.


An official with Royal Oman Police said the defendants had previously broken into four homes and stolen cash and jewellery valued at RO 10,000. The police launched an investigation into these cases and were able to identify the suspects who admitted to their crimes.


Three in custody for smuggling


in Al Buraimi


Two persons have been arrested while attempting to smuggle banned cigarettes into the Sultanate in Al Buraimi. Police found 125 cartons of cigarettes carefully concealed inside the defendants’ vehicle.


In a separate case, the Al Buraimi police have arrested a man for attempting to smuggle chewing tobacco into the Sultanate which he had hidden beneath his vehicle.


58 infiltrators arrested,


113 deported


The Royal Oman Police last week arrested 58 infiltrators of different nationalities in several wilayats for entering the Sultanate illegally.


The ROP also deported 113 infiltrators after taking the necessary legal actions, in coordination with their respective embassies.
