Tunisia, Algeria impress at Arab TT

MUSCAT, AUGUST 16 - Tunisia and Algeria dominated the proceedings in various age categories on the third day at the 16th Arab Cup Table Tennis Championships at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Wednesday.


The players from Syria, Egypt and Iraq also continued their good show in the championships.


AbdulMalik al Balushi carried the name of hosts Oman — with one win and one loss — in third position in the under-18 section.


The opening ceremony was held on Tuesday under the auspices of Shaikh Saad bin Mohammed al Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs.


The Minister of Sports Affairs received the heads of delegations participating in the championship on Wednesday morning. He discussed with them ways of fostering cooperation in the sports field wishing them a happy stay in the Sultanate. The general categories matches will continue on Thursday as well as the juniors’ finals.

The championship is hosted by the Sultanate on August 15-20 with participation of 15 Arab countries: Qatar, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, Comoros, Somalia, Mauritania, Djibouti, Sudan, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Palestine, Yemen besides hosts Oman. More than 180 individuals including players, managing staff and referees are taking part in the championship.
