Trader in Seeb fined for selling herbal products

By Staff Reporter — MUSCAT: MARCH 14 - A court in Seeb penalised a trader selling herbal products for not providing the consumers with correct information and other malpractices. Penalties included fines above RO 500 and confiscation of products. As per the details available, an inspection team from the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) found that the labourers of a shop selling herbal production were involved in malpractices that included applying stickers on the packets with new expiry dates. It was also found that the herbal oils and other products were not conforming to the standards and specifications and did not have permits from the concerned authorities.


The products also stored in conditions that violated all health regulations. Directly related to this operation, the team raided a clinic where patients were given medicines violating all norms, a farm in which medicines were manufactured. Workers were arrested from an accommodation where they were found to be involved in the repackaging of expired products with new labels. The matter was later referred to the competent authority for legal action, which pronounced the judgment.
