TRA accredits sixth registrar for top-level domain names

MUSCAT: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has accredited the sixth accredited registrar for the country’s code Top-Level Domain (ccTLD) of Sultanate of Oman (.om) and its Arabic domain.
During a press conference, Mohammed al Kindi, Executive Manager, Regulatory & Compliance Unit of TRA, said: “The TRA by launching this project is aiming to reflect the Omani identity, promote the Arabic content and build knowledge based society and economy.”
Al Kindi noted that TRA had accredited five registrars since the launch of the project in 2012. Today, TRA is adding a sixth registrar by accrediting Interactive Solutions and Services Company in order to enhance the competitive environment, which serves the growth of domain names market and e-commerce in the Sultanate, and provides more choices to consumers willing to register domain names under (.om).
Interactive Solutions and Services is joining the previously Accredited Registrars: Omantel, Ooredoo, Gulf CyberTech, Oman Data Park and AGIP. Companies that are interested to be an accredited registrar are welcome to apply.
For domain names registration, applicants are advised to refer to the Registration Terms and Conditions described in the Domain Names Regulation and the Registration Agreement issued by the Accredited Registrar.
