Talks with Cardiff varsity on dental tech, ceramic design

MUSCAT: Dr Rawya bint Saud al Busaidiya, Minister of Higher Education, on Wednesday met with Prof Cara Carmichael, Aitcheson, President and Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff Metropolitan University and her accompanying delegation, currently visiting the Sultanate. The two sides discussed several aspects of cooperation with the British university that included following up the opening of new scientific programmes at the Gulf College in the Sultanate in the areas of dental technology, and ceramic design that will attract many students of special needs through academic affiliation with Cardiff Metropolitan University.


The two sides also discussed cooperation between the British university and Al Ajyal College for Sciences of Craft Industries and traditional professions in relation to craft design programme, using leather, ceramics, jewellery and wood, in addition to discussing a proposal to dispatch Omani students to take advantage of the university’s experience in the field of design using fabric, along with the possibility of dispatching technical specialists in the field of stage management and lighting at the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) for training at the university. — ONA
