MUSCAT: Oman’s Sufyan Mehmood will join the likes of Shahid Afridi, Saeed Ajmal and Yusuf Pathan for the ‘World Stars vs Qatar Stars’ matches to be organised in celebration of the Qatar National Day on December 16th and 18th. Medium-pacer Mehmood has been a regular member of the Oman national cricket team and enjoyed the high of the team qualifying for the ICC World T20 earlier this year. Mehmood was elated after being invited for this prestigious event which will comprise a T20 match to be held on December 16th and an ODI game on the 18th.
The Omani lad was excited about the prospect of rubbing shoulders with the likes of Afridi, Ajmal, Pathan, Chaminda Vaas and Balaji. The team will have former Pakistan opener Aamir Sohail as manager and Paul Nixon will be the coach. “Well, it feels amazing and I am excited to rub shoulders with some of the greats of the game. There are also players who I used to follow from my childhood such as Afridi, Chaminda Vaas etc. It would really be a good learning experience for me. Special thanks to my board for allowing me to participate and also special thanks to International Cricketers Association (organisers) for inviting me as the only Arab player.’’
