Paris: French tennis No1 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga announced the birth of his first child on Friday posting a classic maternity ward photo and message on Twitter.
“With stars in my eyes, I’m delighted to announce the birth of our son,” read a message beneath a snap of the tennis ace nervously smiling with the swaddled baby in his arms.
The 31-year-old world number ten — winner of back-to-back tournaments at Marseille and Rotterdam in February — pulled out of the Miami tournament a week ago to be present for the birth alongside his partner Noura El Shwekh.
France captain Yannick Noah is hoping to convince Tsonga to play in the Davis Cup quarterfinal tie against Great Britain in Rouen from April 7-9. — AFP
