MUSCAT: Shaikh Majed al Sabah, one of the most influential personalities on social media in the Arab world, who has played a very crucial role in building awareness for the Sultanate on social media, has returned to Oman with plans to explore the country’s stunning natural beauty.

On his last visit in 2016, Shaikh Majed visited the National Museum, Majlis Al Jinn cave, some bedouin settlements in Al Sharqiyah Sands, the Dhofar mountains and the Royal Opera House.

His stunning portrayal of Oman evoked tremendous response among social media followers.

Within the framework of promoting the Sultanate’s sustainable tourism industry, the Ministry of Tourism, along with Bank Muscat, are delighted to welcome and host Shaikh Majed al Sabah once more to experience the many wonders of Oman during this visit that will cover some unique and unexplored outdoor attractions.

He has played a very important role helping grow the profile of Oman as a unique destination in the region and both locally and internationally through his social media channels.

This stems from Shaikh Majed’s genuine passion and enthusiasm for Oman and his continued efforts to promote the Sultanate’s heritage and culture to millions of followers on his social media channels, especially Snapchat, Twitter and Instagram.

During his many travels, Shaikh Majed is known to engage with people of all backgrounds through social media posts that highlight unique Arab traditions and values as well as remarkable social and economic developments across the world.

Bank Muscat is closely involved in the country’s tourism development projects, complementing the government and the Ministry’s endeavours to promote Oman as a unique destination and boost the national economy and strongly believe in social media’s unifying role as evident from the portrayal of the country by Shaikh Majed.

Shaikh Majed is known to utilise social media to tell unknown travel stories. His social channel Snapchat, for instance, captures real people with real experiences and is aimed at helping followers gain knowledge of different cultures around the world. In fact, his active participation on Snapchat earned him the title of the ‘50 most effective personalities on social media worldwide’.

Oman’s appeal as a unique destination in the region and internationally is only growing with new airline flight connections driving high-end travellers from the neighbouring GCC and European markets to Muscat.

Varied attractions in Oman, including the National Museum and the Royal Opera House, are giving repeat visitors more reasons to explore Oman and Shaikh Majed al Sabah’s visit this year reinforces this.
