SEZAD, ACC sign usufruct pact for cement plant

Muscat: The Special Economic Zone Authority of Duqm (SEZAD) signed a usufruct agreement with the Al Wusta Cement Company (ACC) on Thursday to establish a cement plant in Duqm.


Yahya bin Said al Jabri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SEZAD, Dr Abdullah bin Abbas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACC, and Shaikh Ahmed bin Yousef, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Raysut Cement Company signed the agreement. Under the contract, the Al Wusta Cement Company got a 500,000 square-metres plot to establish the plant, for 50-year renewable lease.


The Al Wusta Cement Company said that the construction work of the project is expected to begin in 2018 and the production begins in 2020. It is expected to start production of 5,000 tonnes per day and will gradually increase to 10,000 tonnes per day.  — ONA
