School students from Barka visit State Council

MUSCAT: The State Council considers raising awareness among citizens a part of its activity-executed yearlong. It encourages engagement with the public of all ages by welcoming them to its premises to share information pertaining to its role and activities. On Sunday, the State Council welcomed students from Al Amal School from Barka for a guided tour of the Council, to enable them to make connections, deepen their knowledge by understanding its structure and functions. The tour and presentation conducted by Abdullah bin Saif al Sibani, Director of the Culture, Information and Tourism Committee detailed all aspects of the Council, before answering questions from the students.


He delivered a lecture on the role and powers of the Council and outlined the stages of the development process of Shura in the Sultanate, built on the foundations of sound and effective democratic practice. The lecture touched on the special provisions of the State Council, which advocates the membership number, the mechanism for their appointment, terms of membership, and distinguished between the membership and role of the Shura Council and the State Council. Abdullah pointed to aspects of compatibility and integration between the two chambers, with an emphasis on the joint role of the Oman Council in the political and economic decision-making, which promotes comprehensive development of the Sultanate.
