Sand storm triggers multiple collisions

A spree of accidents involving nearly a dozen cars left many sustain minor injuries and three cars damaged in Jammah near Musannah on Thursday after the area suffered heavy sandstorms reducing the visibility near to zero.


“Batinah Governorate, especially the Musannah area suffered heavy sandstorms towards the evening on Thursday causing motorists to lose sight of the vehicles in the front. Several cars were involved in the accident injuring those in the vehicles and damaging many vehicles,” a source at the ROP said. He added that those injured were admitted to Suhar Hospital and those who received minor injuries were given first aid from nearby clinics.


Sand storms also reduced visibility in Muscat. In Al Rustaq and Al Hamra rains continued on Thursday. These places received the highest rainfall in the Sultanate.
