SALALAH: It is expected that SalamAir after it launched its route between Muscat and Salalah with two flights a week will boost the tourism sector in the Sultanate by providing an effective means of transport at affordable prices, thereby contributing to the achievement of the aspirations of the Sultanate’s efforts to diversify the national economy and develop a number of sectors, including the tourism sector. Salim bin Awadh bin Yahya al Yaf’ei, Director-General of Salalah Airport, stressed that SalamAir would help boosting economic development and contributing effectively to create a competitive environment for the development and improvement of the civil aviation sector services in the Sultanate.

He said that the officials of Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) considered SalamAir as a new strategic partner and represents one of the new windows that will work to facilitate the travel experience from the economic aspects to and from the Governorate of Dhofar, therefore, internal traveling between Salalah, Muscat and other destinations to be covered by SalamAir will become easier and affordable. He added that SalamAir is a national project that aims primarily at raising the contribution of economic returns for the Sultanate of non-oil sectors in the GDP by offering smart opportunities to meet the needs of the community. — ONA
