The Royal Oman Police’s (ROP) online services are the ones most widely used by the people, according to a survey conducted by the Information Technology Authority (ITA).

The e-Government project has been implemented in the Sultanate as per the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to ensure digital transformation. ROP’s e-services have won 31 awards in various local, Gulf and Arab competitions.

Col Eng Nasser bin Muslim al Ruzaiqi, Director-General of Information Technology, said, “The department works to support ROP activities, including development of software for services offered by the police. The e-services will ensure quality performance and expenditure rationalisation by diversifying the use of various technical means.”

The ROP has processed 1,366,016 application forms online until the end of August. It has conducted 877,069 transactions on civil status and 370,230 on traffic-related matters.

Bayan is a one-stop electronic or single window that expedites clearance and flow of goods. To ease the security procedures, the ROP recently launched a project to equip the police vehicles with e-devices.

This service will enable the police to automatically detect speed violations via the vehicle’s speed control devices.

Al Ruzaiqi said the ROP was currently working on implementing several electronic projects, most of them linked to government institutions. Companies and institutions registered in the system will enjoy services electronically. The competent authority develops traffic systems and links it to all relevant agencies within the police and outside.
