ROP guidelines: Flat contracts, three-month bank statement must for family visas

Muscat, Oct 8 - The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has come out with guidelines for granting non-sponsored tourist visas for nationals from India, China and Russia. It also specified norms for expatriates who want to bring their families to the Sultanate.


According to the ROP, a bank statement for at least three months and a flat lease contract in their name or the name of employer should be furnished by expatriates applying for a family joining visa. The lease contract should be approved by a competent authority.


The minimum salary of the foreign employees who want to bring their families should not be less than RO 300, said the ROP.


For non-sponsored visas, applicant should have a valid passport for a period not less than six months and applicant must be a resident or holder of a visa from one of the following countries: USA, Canada, Australia, UK and Schengen States, provided residence/ visa in those countries is valid when applying for the visa.


The applicant must have a return travel ticket and a confirmed hotel reservation.


The spouse and children of the visa-holder, even if they do not hold the visa of those countries, will be eligible for visa provided they travel together.


The visa fee, valid for one month, is RO 20. The facility will be offered on a trial basis for a year following which it will be reviewed.
