MUSCAT:  Moderate to extremely heavy rain continued to fall in some northern wilayats of the Sultanate for the second day on Wednesday as the Sultanate’s north came under the effect of a trough of low pressure. The rain, accompanied by active winds, caused a number of wadis to overflow and raised the water level and reduced temperatures. The latest meteorological weather charts released by the Directorate General of Meteorology and Air Navigation at the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (Oman Met office) indicate that the northern governorates will again be affected by the impact of the weather system starting from Friday with chances of cumulonimbus clouds formation over the Governorate of Musandam and gradually spreading to the northern governorates. There are chances of rains and occasional thunder showers, active winds and hail in the northern governorates. The weather will be cloudy to partly cloudy with the probability of scattered rains over the governorates of Al Wusta and Dhofar. The Public Authority for Civil Aviation urges everyone to take necessary precautions and to follow the weather bulletins. Members of the public are also strongly advised not to cross the wadis while flowing.
