MUSCAT: A trough of low pressure continued to affect the Sultanate on Monday as a number of wilayats witnessed moderate to heavy rains accompanied by active wind causing some wadis to overflow and disrupting the traffic movement in several parts of the country. The latest weather charts issued by the Directorate General of Meteorology and Air Navigation show chances of continued rains. The latest analysis from the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre (NMHEWC) indicate that the effect of low pressure system is likely to continue until tomorrow.

There are chances of scattered rains and occasionally thunder showers in the governorates of Musandam, North and South Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, North and South Al Sharqiyah. North to north-westerly winds will blow on the coast of Musandam and Sea of Oman with a maximum wave height of 2.5 metres and reduced temperatures. Thunder showers were reported in Musandam Governorate on Monday causing a number of wadis to overflow. The wilayats of Budha and Khasab experienced heavy rains. The Wilayat of Mahdha and the Niyabat of Al Rawdha experienced moderate to heavy rains.
