By Business Reporter — MUSCAT: FEB 12 - The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Training Fund to facilitate full time employment of trainees. The MoU aims at facilitating employment of trainees on a full time basis upon the successful completion of their training. The National Training Fund will finance the training programme following allocation of the trainees to the companies engaged in various manufacturing and trading activities in the industrial estates administered by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates in the Sultanate.

The MoU was signed on behalf of the National Training Fund by Dr Mohammed bin Hamed al Rumhy, Minster of Oil and Gas, and Chairman of the National Training Fund; and from PEIE’s side by Hilal bin Hamad al Hasani, CEO of PEIE. The MoU comes in line with the vision of the National Training Fund toward building a competitive workforce globally, enhancing the capabilities of the national workforce, bridging the gap between the market supply and demand, fostering collaboration amongst sectors to identify employment opportunities and understand current requirements as well as future needs.

As per the MoU, PEIE shall be responsible for communication with the operating companies in the industrial estates in terms of training needs and requirements and the agreed monthly salary payment during the programme. PEIE would also coordinate in terms of registration of trainees with the Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI) after signing the agreement with the related parties. PEIE shall also encourage the operating companies at the various industrial estates to pay the contributions to PASI in relation to the trainees. PEIE shall follow up with the companies for immediate employment of trainees post the successful completion of their training programme.
