MUSCAT: The Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) has called upon the parents to caution their children about hazards associated with swimming pools at homes and farms. Comply with the safety regulations when building such pools, it said. Despite warnings and awareness campaigns by the authority and other organisations, many child drowning incidents are still reported. The authority blamed such incidents to “lethargy” in covering the pools, lack of control and keeping the water levels high. Children should be told about risks in such pools, said the authority, asking parents not to allow children to swim without having an adult to watch on them.
