CAIRO: The Omani Society for Writers and Literati (OSWL) on Thursday signed a cooperation agreement with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (Library of Alexandria) in Egypt, on the sidelines of the participation of OSWL at the 3rd International Conference on Fighting Extremism under the title (The World is Rising Up: United against Extremism), which was hosted by the Library of Alexandria during the period from January 17-19 with the participation of some 300 cultural and public personal from Egypt and various countries around the world.

Khalfan bin Hamad al Zaidi, Secretary of OSWL and Dr Khalid Azab, Head of the Central Projects and Services Sector at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina signed the agreement.

The agreement comes from the pursuit of OSWL to deepen cultural and literary cooperation between writers and intellectuals in the Sultanate and Egypt. The two parties agreed to activate cooperation in the fields of cultural activities of mutual interest including the organization of events, exchange of publications and carry out joint research activities in ways that enhances and supports the culture, sciences, arts and literary activities. The agreement confirms the desire of both parties to embrace cultural initiatives and joint ventures without bearing any financial obligations by them which requires that each activity should be agreed upon in advance.

It should be noted that OSWL participated in the conference with a delegation that included Dr Saidah bint Khatir al Farsiyah, Deputy Chairman of OSWL, Khalfan bin Hamad al Zaidi, OSWL Secretary and Said al Tarshi, OSWL Board member.
