ORSA campaign distributes 600 child car safety seats

By Staff Reporter — MUSCAT: Dec. 12: Oman Road Safety Association (ORSA) in partnership with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Al Khonji Group, and volunteering Groups from the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Oman Women Association in Al Seeb and the Scouts has distributed around 30 child restraints to the newborns and raised awareness of more than 100 visitors to the hospital in the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital as part of #save_your_child campaign. Shaima al Hammadi was present at the occasion and helped in distributing the seats and talking to the mothers of the newborns.


ORSA has launched the pilot phase of a nationwide programme to distribute car seats for young children and infants, and to raise awareness on important road safety issues including correctly using seat belts and child restraints in all vehicles to safeguard passengers. The nationwide rollout of the #save_your_child campaign was launch in October this year. More than 600 child restraints to be distributed during the awareness campaign and will be completed in phases through government hospitals in Muscat and Batinah, Dakhiliyah, Sharqiyah, Dhofar, Musandam and other locations in 2016 and 2017.
