OOC Sports Marketing panel meets

MUSCAT: Following its reformation, the OOC’s Sports Marketing Committee held its first meeting on Sunday at the OOC premises under the chairmanship of Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair, OOC Chairman and Sports Marketing Committee Chairman. Opening the meeting, Shaikh Khalid welcomed and introduced the new committee members. A working mechanism was determined for the committee’s activities over the upcoming period. A presentation was delivered at the meeting on sports partnerships and sponsorships. The meeting also tackled the main difficulties and challenges facing the committee. The members were informed about the sponsorship agreements with companies and establishments, the efforts made over the past period and the agreements expected to be signed over the upcoming period.


The OOC’s Sports Marketing Committee has several marketing-related activities, including evaluating current situation of Olympic sports in the Sultanate, preparing and implementing marketing programmes and initiatives in cooperation with the concerned sports associations, formulating a strategy aimed at establishing sustainable partnerships with leading companies in Oman as well as with some global firms operating inside or outside the Sultanate. Further, the committee has the duty of creating plans aiming at highlighting the OOC’s role in increasing the number of athletes involved in Olympic sports.


The committee is also involved in marketing initiatives aiming at strengthening infrastructure of Olympic sports and addressing the possibility of obtaining technical, consulting and financial support from regional, continental and international organisations concerned with Olympic activities and events. The current OOC’s Sports Marketing Committee for the terms of office 2017–2020 comprises Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair (chairman) and Hamdan bin Moosa al Harrasi, Abdul Ameer bin Abdul Hussain al Ajmi, Al Mutasim bin Said al Sariri, Badr bin Abdallah al Hinai, Hilal bin Omer al Siyabi (members) and Mubarak al Hassani (rapporteur).
