MUSCAT: Dr Ayida al Wahaibi, Senior Lecturer in Anatomical Sciences, and Dr C S Rajmohan, Senior Lecturer in Adult Restorative Dentistry, two senior faculty members from Oman Dental College attended the annual Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) conference titled “Science and the competent dentist: An inter-professional perspective” in Barcelona, Spain recently.

Dr Al Wahaibi said of the conference “I’m honoured to get the chance to attend the global convergence of specialists. Attending the conference has been of great professional and educational value. As the conference focused this year on the role of the basic sciences in dentistry I had the chance to learn about different teaching and learning strategies from colleagues in other dental schools which will help me to give a better learning experience to my students. It also gave me the chance to interact and make connections with specialists in my field mainly from different countries in Europe and to share the same with my students in Oman.”

The conference was attended by deans, vice-deans, policy makers and academics in dentistry from across the world.

Dr C S Rajmohan reflected “I was very glad to participate in this conference as it really broadened my horizons and I got a chance to meet dental professionals from across the world”.

Since its foundation in 1975, the ADEE has been encouraging cooperation and promoting excellence in Dental Education. The ADEE is an independent organisation based in Europe, representing academic dentistry and the community of dental educators and the annual conferences give member institutions an opportunity to keep up to date with best practice, new developments and techniques in dental education.
