Oman re-elected head of GCC Port State Control

DUBAI: The Ministry of Transport and Communications participated in the 14th annual meeting for Riyadh MoU on Port State Control, which has been held in Dubai, UAE. The meeting discussed the technical inspection of activities on the foreign vessels visiting the GCC States’ ports, developing standard programmes for targeting vessels that don’t comply with maritime safety standards, the training plans for the maritime inspectors’ rehabilitation, as well as sharing inspection information and data through the MoU Information Centres. During the meeting, Dr Rashid bin Mohammed al Kiyoumi, Director-General of Maritime Affairs at the Ministry of Transport and Communication was unanimously re-elected as the chairman of the committee for the coming three years. On the sidelines of the meeting, a presentation was made on the Sultanate’s efforts to develop the maritime procedures, education and rehabilitation. — ONA
