MUSCAT: The Sultanate has scored 45 points in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) for 2016, thus maintaining the same score since 2014 even though a number of Arab countries have slipped in the global ranking. The Sultanate was ranked fifth among the Arab states and 64th in the world in the 2016 Corruption Perception Index. In comparison to 2015 index, this represents an increase of two places, yet a decrease of four places overall. The index ranks 176 countries/territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption. The Corruption Perceptions Index is the leading global indicator of public sector corruption, offering a yearly snapshot of the relative degree of corruption by ranking countries from all over the globe. The Corruption Perceptions Index for Oman from Transparency International ranges from 0 (high corruption) to 100 (low corruption). It reflects the perceptions of public sector corruption, i.e. administrative and political corruption. — ONA
