Oman-India bilateral trade reaches $3.89bn

By Business Reporter — MUSCAT: MARCH 18 - The Embassy of India, Muscat, organised a Business-to-Business (B2B) Meeting for Indian and Omani companies participating in BIG Show Oman last week.  Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry, was the Chief Guest.  The B2B Meeting was also joined by Mohsin Khamis al Balushi, Adviser, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Redha al Saleh, Vice Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.


Over 300 representatives of Omani companies from various sectors including ceramics & tiles, building materials, construction equipment, stones & marbles, concrete & cement, and so on, interacted with representatives of 75 Indian companies which participated in The BIG Show Oman during March 13-15, 2017 under the leadership of two leading Indian business chambers, namely the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO).


The Indian Embassy has attached, as desired by the Governments of India and Oman, a high priority to promoting bilateral trade and mutual investments which constitute key pillars of the strategic partnership between India and Oman.


India-Oman bilateral trade remains buoyant and reached $3.89 billion during 2016 (January-December).


The embassy has been encouraging Indian and Omani companies to benefit from tremendous opportunities available for trade and mutual investments between the two countries especially in sectors like oil & gas, minerals and mining, manufacturing, logistics, infrastructure, engineering, power, IT, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, agriculture, and so on.


The B2B Meeting was part of the embassy’s endeavours to enhance contacts between business communities of India and Oman.
