Oman Air said its flight WY 337, a Boeing 737 – 800 flying from Muscat to Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport returned safely back to base after the aircraft had initially taken-off from Muscat International Airport.

The flight took off from Muscat at 6:13am local time with 137 guests and six crew members on board. The aircraft returned to its home base, after experiencing a technical snag on takeoff. The guests and crew disembarked smoothly and without incident.

All guests were accommodated on an alternative aircraft with the same flight number that took off at 3pm from Muscat.

The airline said its over-riding priority is to the safety and well-being of all its guests and staff, and the airline is proud of its unblemished safety record.

The airline also works closely with all the airport authorities throughout its network. This incident further illustrates the effectiveness of the excellent training of their crew and co-operation with the Airport Authorities.

Oman Air thanked the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA), the staff at Muscat International Airport, Royal Oman Police (ROP) and Oman Airport Management Company (OAMC) for their cooperation.
