NAIROBI: Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, celebrated the launch of its inaugural flight WY721 to Nairobi, Kenya. The four times weekly flight to Nairobi operated by a Boeing 737-800, is Oman Air’s first service to Kenya. The flight will open up easy access to Oman Air’s range of destinations for customers from Kenya, as well as helping to strengthen political, economic and social links between Oman and Kenya. At Nairobi, there will be convenient connections to other points in Africa, in cooperation with Kenyan Airways. In Muscat, the guests can avail excellent connections offered by Oman Air to its destinations in the Far East, Indian Subcontinent, Europe and GCC countries

The inaugural flight departed from Muscat, after a cake cutting ceremony attended by the senior management members of Oman Air and other local dignitaries. The five-hour flight landed in Nairobi where there was a ribbon cutting ceremony upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta Airport and a welcome address by the Oman Air’s Deputy CEO and Executive Vice President - Commercial, Abdulrahman al Busaidi. Al Busaidi said: “The launch of this route is a significant milestone for Oman Air and is in direct response to customer demand. Oman and Kenya have been trading for many years and there have been recent moves between both countries to increase the synergies between both countries and build on the rising level of trade. We are confident that this latest expansion by Oman Air will help develop growing relations between both countries and also increase tourism and VFR traffic between our two nations”.    — ONA
