MUSCAT, APRIL 19 -

As part of its enduring commitment to support the skill development of local communities in Oman, the Oman American Business Centre (OABC) announced its sponsorship of the recently opened Innovation Factory Centre (IFC).

OABC’s efforts will provide scholarships that will allow Omani students to become full members of the IFC during summer 2017 and to fully utilise the innovation hub’s digital fabrication and industrial equipment to turn their creative ideas into reality.

“We believe that the youth of Oman are our future and therefore it is essential that we empower them to innovate, design, and tinker their way to success,” said Ali Daud, President of the OABC. “We applaud the launch of the Innovation Factory and are proud to support this unique SME, in addition to enabling Omani youth to benefit from it.”

“We aim at Innovation Factory Centre (IFC) to spread the culture of making and fabricating in the community, using the latest technologies in the world, to develop solutions for our daily real-life challenges. IFC values all type of support, that empowers youth and the innovation culture in Oman and we are glad to have Oman American Business Centre on board as one of our partners”, Firas al Balushi, CEO, Innovation Factory Centre.

Launched as a collaborative project between the Information Technology Authority (ITA) and a number of Omani inventers, the IFC offers a number of services including an innovation lab and the Sultanate’s first digital fabrication technologies open to the public. The centre also provides technological and technical support to assist members in creating almost anything — from plastic phone-cases to space industry equipment.
