No plans to privatise govt hospitals in Oman, clarifies on social media reports

The government said there are no plans to privatize existing main government hospitals as it has been circulated in the social media based on an interview given by Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) to an Arabic TV channel.


The privatisation of public hospitals has not been discussed by the government, the statement from the ministry clarified. The minister said in the interview that there are proposals from the private sector to construct new new hospitals, which will be financed and managed by them in the long-term. These new hospitals will remain to be part of the government.
