Back on dry land, the participants will ride onto scenic roads towards the traditional village of Yiti with the option of either 20 or 40 kilometres. Finally, there will be a 5 or 10 kilometre run held within the resort’s picturesque surroundings   


MUSCAT: Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa will host the ‘Muscat Paradise Triathlon’ event organised by Tri-ME Sporting Events and Muscat Triathlon Club to promote the importance of sports and encourage healthy lifestyle awareness through numerous inspirational sporting events.


The ‘Muscat Paradise Triathlon’ event will take place on Friday, March 17 with two classifications: Olympic and Sprint distances.


The swim portion of the race will offer two options: 750 or 1,500 metres. Back on dry land, the participants will ride onto scenic roads towards the traditional village of Yiti with the option of either 20 or 40 kilometres. Finally, there will be a 5 or 10 kilometre run held within the resort’s picturesque surroundings. Younger participants will have their own fun Kids’ Biathlon (bike and run race).


“We have named this event the ‘Muscat Paradise Triathlon’ because it’s hard to think of a more beautiful environment for a sporting occasion than Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa’s breathtaking landscapes and the sparkling, clear waters of the bay that surrounds it,” said Fathiya Hamid al Rasadi, marketing and communication director of Tri-ME.


Jürgen Durr, general manager of Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, added, “It will be wonderful to see fitness enthusiasts of all ages and abilities come together and enjoy this truly unique triathlon — it is bound to be a lot of fun for everyone involved, and we are excited to see some good finish times too.”
