Municipality signs agreement for running Muttrah Fish Market

As per the agreement, which won the tender,  Muscat Municipality will lease the new Muttrah fish, vegetable and fruits market to private firm Dana  


Muscat: Muscat Municipality on Thursday signed an agreement with Al Dana LLC for the operation of the new fish market in Muttrah for five years.


The agreement was signed by Mohsin bin Mohammed al Shaikh, Chairman of Muscat Municipality and Nader Mohsen Rajab, Chairman of the company.


The agreement is part of the efforts made by Muscat Municipality to enhance cooperation with private sector. As per the agreement with Dana, which won the tender, Muscat Municipality will lease the company the new Muttrah fish, vegetable and fruits market, located on Bahri road opposite to Mina Sultan Qaboos (Port).


The market includes a number of shops for selling fish, meat, poultry, vegetables and fruits. The fish market, spread over 1,410 metres, has 122 display platforms and 32 corners for cutting fishes.


The vegetable and fruits market, which spread over 810 metres, has 52 display platforms, in addition to four meat shops, four poultry shops, coolers, administrative offices, coffee shops, restaurants and other facilities. — ONA
