Military options on North Korea still exist: US

SEOUL: The United States has developed military options to deal with North Korea, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford said on Thursday, appearing to partly contradict Donald Trump’s chief strategist.

Communist North Korea, which is seeking to build an atomic weapon, last week threatened to fire missiles at the US Pacific territory of Guam having previously tested other rockets in the vicinity of South Korea and Japan.

Trump has threatened North Korean leader Kim Jong Un with “fire and fury” if it does not cease provoking the US.

But White House chief strategist Steve Bannon seemed to play down the war rhetoric in a rare interview on Wednesday.
