Masirah to host beach tent pegging from March 10

MUSCAT: The Muscat-based International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF) will organise a press conference on February 26, Sunday,  to unveil the details of the Sultanate’s hosting of the 1st international tent pegging competition in the Wilayat of Masirah in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah. A number of horse riders from member countries will take part in the competition that will be held from March 10 to 12, 2017. During the press conference, ITPF will also unveil the associated programmes and activities of the three-day event. At the same day, a number of agreements will be signed with governmental organisation, as well as private companies that sponsor the event.


The signing ceremony will be held at Grand Hormuz Hotel under the auspices of Sheikh Khalid bin Omar al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service, in the presence of Sheikh Saad bin Mohammed al Mardoof al Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs and a number of officials. During ITPF’ heads of committee and board of directors last meeting, which was held in the Sultanate last December under the chair of Mohammed bin Eisa al Fairooz, Chairman of ITPF, The ITPF approved a proposal to organise beach tent pegging every two years. The competition, whose first version will be held in the Sultanate, will comprise seven international teams. — ONA
