Manpower Ministry and ‘Riyada’ launch SME initiative ‘Tahfeez’

MUSCAT: Public Authority for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises (Riyada) signed at the Ministry of Manpower on Sunday two memoranda of understanding (MoU) with Silatech (technical partner) and CC Energy Development (strategic partner) related to the launching of the SME Initiative (Tahfeez) in cooperation between the Ministry of Manpower and ‘Riyada’ within the labour market and employment lab, within the framework of the National Programme to Promote Economic Diversification (Tanfeedh). The initiative ‘Tahfeez’ comes as a result of the efforts of the Ministry of Manpower and ‘Riyada’, in partnership with the private sector in the labour market and employment lab (Tanfeedh), which aims to provide 1,878 jobs by 2020 through small and medium enterprises for Omanis.


The initiative includes the link between job-seekers and available and provided project opportunities by various local value-added projects. The initial cost estimate of the initiative is RO 100,000 for the first year of launching the programme. The strategic and investment partner of the initiative is CC Energy Development company, which commits itself to invest RO 40,000 to sponsor the initiative. The signing ceremony was attended by Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, Minister of Manpower and Dr Khamis bin Saif al Jabri, Head of Implementation and Follow up Unit. — ONA
