Local firm donates 60,000 Ramadhan boxes to charity

Around 6,000 Ramadhan boxes were distributed by Eshraqa, the social development arm of Khimji Ramdas, to 27 charities and social aid associations across the Sultanate recently.


The distribution of the boxes, which contained essential items, was carefully planned with Eshraqa aiming to reach a large number of diverse group of people who are really in need.


Some of the charitable organisation recipients were Noor Association for the Blind -Sohar, Balkeas School - Sohar , Noor Association for the Blind -Nizwa and Muscat, Association for Disabled -Muscat, Silent Volunteers Group- Muscat, Takaful social fund jalan bani bu Hassan (Sure), Al Ahli sport Team - Izki , Wali Bid bid, Oman Association for Disabled –Ibri, Muttrah Group Al Zabadya team- Muscat, Omani Women Association – Sumail, Al Etefaq Team, Ayni Sport Team, Sanobader Liajlekum Team Muscat, and Al Sumood Sports Team.


Nailesh Khimji, director of Khimji Ramdas said, “The Holy month of Ramadhan is a period of sharing, caring, brotherhood and family and we endeavour to spread this message through a variety of programmes.”


He added, “Every year, we conduct several aid campaigns in the form of food drives, donations and goodwill contributions to various philanthropic organisations across the Sultanate so that we can touch more lives during this season of solidarity and friendship.”


Eshraqa representative, Khalsa Al Zadjali, said, “As KR Social development arm, we are focussed on raising more resilient communities by helping those in need. Our motto is to give back to society and give generously. We have a greater need to do so during the Holy month of Ramadhan and reinforce the season’s message of sharing.”


The company also tapped popular media personalities like Sayida Basma Al Said, Fahmi Al Maawali, and Madiha Alsulimani to help out with distribution. They played active roles in distributing the hampers.
