The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) will organise a meeting with various private and government stakeholders in the Governorate of Dhofar on Monday, June 19, 2017. The meeting will assess the preparations for Khareef Festival and tourism season which starts on June 21 and ends on September 21, this year.
Akram bin Hassan al Mazraa, Director General at the Directorate General for Commerce and Industry in the Governorate of Dhofar said, “This meeting is to discuss the readiness of various government and private entities to provide the materials, goods and services throughout the season.”
“During the meeting with officials from private and government sectors, we will discuss the importance of providing all facilities and services by the authorities all through the season. They have to ensure that foodstuffs reach all the malls and markets. The authorities will have to ensure the transportation of foodstuffs during national holidays, which was achieved last year. Additionally, the officials will be asked to monitor the market to ensure that prices are not inflated during the season and that the products that reach the market are safe in order to protect the consumer. There will also be various promotional offers at the commercial establishments,” he added.
