Aburva Govindarajan of Indian School Sohar has been selected as one among the winners in an International Dance Festival HiddenIdol 2017 held recently. She has been selected to participate in this festival based on her performances at audition rounds in which thousands of classical dancers across the globe participated. In grand finale, top 20 Bharatanatyam dancers from the US, the UK, Sri Lanka and India took part. This is the first time that a dancer from Sultanate of Oman performed at this festival.

Githaa Ravishannkhar, Director, Sohar Institute of Music and Arts, choreographed her dances. Aburva’s performance with live orchestra was well appreciated by eminent jury members. She was declared as one among the winners in junior age category. This event was held at Chidambaram, the famous iconic town for classical dances. She is now eligible to perform in forthcoming world dance festivals which will be held across many continents. Aburva expressed happiness in representing the Sultanate of Oman in this international event. She felt this participation gave her a good opportunity to learn the contemporary trends in the art and boosted her confidence in taking up new challenges.
