Hotel revenues rise to exceed RO 77 million

The latest figures issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) show that the total guests in the Sultanate’s hotels classified as 3-5 stars till the end of April 2017 stood at 585,192, comprising a rise of 13.8 per cent compared to the same period in 2016, which stood at 514,101.


The statistics show that revenues of hotels classified as 3-5 stars reached RO 77.97 million at the end of April 2017, a rise of 5.3 per cent compared with RO 73.197 million during the same period in 2016.


The occupancy rate recorded an increase of 1.7 per cent by reaching 65.3 per cent compared to 64.2 per cent logged during the same period of 2016.


European guests comprised the highest percentage of the total number of guests till the end of April 2017 with an increase of 39.8 per cent to reach 280,323, compared to 200,466 in April 2016, followed by Omanis who numbered 140,279 compared with 159,460 in April 2016, a fall of 12 per cent. — ONA
