HM’s greetings conveyed to Egyptian President Sisi

CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el Sisi received Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, at the Al Ittihadiyah Palace, on Saturday. During the meeting, Alawi conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to the Egyptian president, affirming the Sultanate’s appreciation to the strong historic relations with Egypt. On his part, the Egyptian president asked Alawi to convey his greetings along with his wishes of good health, happiness and long life to His Majesty the Sultan, and wishing the Omani people further progress and prosperity.


He emphasised the strengths of relations binding the two countries. The meeting discussed ways of fostering bilateral relations between the two countries at various levels and reviewed regional developments. The two sides agreed on the importance of boosting efforts to achieve political settlements in a way that maintains the territorial integrity of the countries in crises. In a press statement, the Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said that President Sisi commended His Majesty’s support to the will of the Egyptian people, affirming Egypt’s keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation with the Sultanate in various fields and foster coordination and consultation between the two countries.


The spokesman said that Egyptian president pointed out to the importance of good preparation for the next round of the joint Omani-Egyptian committee due to be held in Muscat this year.  Alawi also met the Egyptian Foreign Minister Samih Shukri. The ministers discussed ways of fostering the bilateral relations binding the two countries and exchanged views on issues of common concern. They also reviewed the latest developments on the regional and international levels. — ONA
