NICOSIA: President Nicos Anastasiades of Cyprus on Tuesday received at the Republican Palace Shaikh Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura and his accompanying delegation. Al Maawali conveyed greetings of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos along with best wishes to President Anastasiades and the friendly people of Cyprus continuous progress and growth. On his turn, the Cypriot President asked the Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura to convey his sincere greetings and wishes to His Majesty the Sultan and the Omani people permanent progress and prosperity.
The meeting discussed joint cooperation between the Sultanate and Cyprus in various fields.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Ahmed bin Salim al Shanfri, Sultanate’s Ambassador to Cyprus and officials.
The Chairman also met Demetris Syllouris, President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus.
The meeting exchanged views to promote the relation between the two countries particularly in the parliamentary field.
The President of Cypriot House of Representatives hailed the strong relation between the two friendly countries.
He also affirmed his country’s keenness to develop the relations between the two countries in various economic, cultural and tourist domains.
The Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura affirmed the sincere desire of the Council to promote joint cooperation between the two friendly countries.
Al Maawali and his accompanying delegation also met Ioannis Kasoulides, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus.
The two sides reviewed the bilateral relations and several issues of common concern. — ONA
