Omanis heading to Russia should get a visa depending on the purpose of their visit to avoid complications, a senior Ministry of Foreign Affairs official has said.
The statement comes in the wake of recent detention of some Omani nationals at that country’s airport after they were denied entry due to “conflicting statements about the purpose of their visit”, according to a report.
“The border customs officials had delayed them (Omani nationals) for hours pending investigation,” said the Omani Embassy in Moscow.
In a statement on its official Twitter account, it urged Omanis planning to travel to Russia to ensure their reasons comply with the nature of the visas they have obtained from the Russian Embassy in Muscat.
This is applicable not only for Russia but also for all countries where a visa is required.
Anyone visiting a foreign country is advised to get a visa that justifies their purpose of visit.
The Indian Embassy too had sent a notification to those intending to visit India to get the relevant visa stamped on their passport.
Some Omani nationals were detained at an Indian airport as their visa allowed them to only visit the country and not undergo any medical procedure or treatment.
