MUSCAT: The fire department of the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances (PACDA) said that it was able to control a fire at a residential apartment in Barka. At 9 am on September 16, the PACDA operations centre received report of a fire in one of the apartments. The fire and ambulance teams immediately rushed to the site and prevented the spread to neighbouring apartments, which resulted in injuries to five people due to smoke inhalation.

The injured were transferred to the Barka health centre after receiving emergency care from the ambulance team. Property damage have been also reported. PACDA on Friday, reported about a cooking gas explosion in an apartment in the Mabela area of Seeb. Two Asian expatriates were seriously injured in the incident, which was a result of the cylinder kept in a confined space with no room for the gas to move out. PACDA urged the people to take preventive procedures and requirements in residential and commercial buildings to avoid loss of lives and property.
