Muscat, June 17 -

The first flight to Mecca carrying Haj pilgrims from the Sultanate will leave on August 18.

The first flight with Omani official Haj mission delegation to the holy land will take off the next day (August 19), according to the mission representatives at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs.

“Nearly 150-160 officials will be part of the official delegation flying to Mecca. We will leave Oman on August 19 and return on September 7,” said Abdul Aziz al Ghafri, Deputy Head of the Mission led by Sultan al Hinai.

This delegation will comprise top officials from the ministry, representatives of ministries, including ministries of health and education, and Royal Oman Police (ROP) officials, besides many volunteers.

The total number of Haj pilgrims from Oman this year is 14,000, including 12,664 Omanis and 600 expatriates. A total of 9,322 pilgrims will be going by air and 3,942 by road, said Al Ghafri.
