By Amal Al Riyami — NIZWA: Feb 20 - The first elderly forum was held under the slogan, ‘Our Ancestors Pride For Us’ at Tanuf Health Centre in Nizwa on Monday. The event was presided over by Shaikh Hamad bin Salim bin Saif al Aghbari, Wali of Nizwa, and attended by elderly artisans engaged in traditional crafts. The forum is an opportunity to strengthen communication between communities by involving relevant sectors. It is part of an effort of the health personnel at Tanuf Health Center to highlight the role of the elderly in the community.

The elderly artisans “reflect the reality of such jobs”, which are a source of livelihood for them and their families.

The event commenced with a welcome speech by students from Tanuf School. Naima al Kindi, Al Dakhiliyah team manager of the Omani Association for Elderly Friends, in a speech, explained the importance of communication between the elderly and different sections of the community. The ceremony included a poem delivered by Suleiman al Shueili, vice-president of the association.
