Ferries carry over 108,000 passengers and 27,000 vehicles

Muscat: The number of passengers carried by ferries of the National Ferries Company (NFC) stood at 108,628 during the first half of 2017 compared to 99,871 passengers in the same period last year, recording a growth rate of 9 percent.


Statistics issued by the NFC said that the increase in the first half of 2017 was attributed to the increase in the number of passengers and vehicles during the Eid holidays during which 7,390 passengers traveled on board along with 1,763 vehicles.


The statistics showed that the growth in vehicles shipment rose to 27,976 vehicles during the first half of 2017 with a growth rate of 14 per cent compared to 24,640 vehicles in the same period last year. The cargo volume on board of the ferry fleet by the end of June 2017 reached 5,007 tonnes. — ONA
