Spreading the benefits of sustainability in the Sultanate, the Environment Society of Oman (ESO) recently launched an awareness campaign in the Governorate of Buraimi. As part of the initiative, teams from the society visited local community groups, six schools as well as a number of higher educational institutions and Oman’s Women Association to introduce its work and share its expertise.

Ahmed Issa Saif Al Rashdi, Board Member of ESO, said, “Our campaign in Buraimi is part of our longstanding efforts to expand the scope of our operations and reach out to as many people as possible. The Sultanate’s unique habitats are wide ranging and require all of us to work for their preservation if we are to save them from threats such as global warming, over development and pollution. We are grateful to Sheikh Mohammed Ali Al Badi, Shura Council member for his support in Buraimi”

The society’s campaign in the Governorate of Buraimi was led by Dr. Hamed bin Mohammed Al Gheilani, Community Outreach Manager, and Abdul Aziz bin Said Al Alawi, Awareness Coordinator. Held from the February 19 – 23, 2017, the initiative was launched under the umbrella of the Society’s awareness drive, which has also been organized in other Governorates.

Since inception, ESO has worked diligently to effect change and make a difference in Oman’s natural habitats to preserve them for future generations.
