Muscat, jan.27 -

Oman coach Muhanna bin Said al Adawi said his team were deserved winners of the epic semifinal against Egypt in the 2nd CISM World Cup at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Thursday.

Al Adawi said Egypt were tough opponents but Oman played good, competitive football.

“This match we deserved to win in the second half. Egypt team were creating problems for us and were very hard to deal with but we had the ability to come through,’’ he added.

However, the coach was forthright when asked if he expected such a difficult game from Egypt.

“Yes, of course. They are a very good side, one of the best teams in the competition and we were expecting a tough game,’’ Al Adawi said.

When asked to compare Egypt with Qatar and Syria, Al Adawi felt the former were definitely a better team.

“Syria and Qatar are good teams no doubt, but Egypt are a lot more competitive,’’ he added. Al Adawi said Oman were ready to face anything that would be put on them in the final by Qatar on Saturday.

Qatar stormed into the final in an almost similar fashion like Oman, beating Syria 4-2 on penalties after being tied 2-2 after 120 minutes of play.
