Challenges to food security to be discussed

MUSCAT: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), represented by the Food Security Committee, in cooperation with OCCI Branch in Governorate of Dhofar, will organise a seminar titled “Investment Prospects in Food Security: Opportunities and Challenges” on Wednesday in Salalah.


The opening ceremony will be held under the auspices of Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar.


The seminar aims to highlight the importance of food security and the role it plays in societies, highlight the most important opportunities for investment in this sector and identify the challenges and problems facing investment in food projects. Further, it aims to study some successful experiences inside and outside the Sultanate and propose some solutions to develop investment in this sector, in addition to exchanging experiences and expertise in food security.


Salim bin Saif al Abdali, Head of the Organising Committee of the seminar, said that this seminar comes to highlight the most important investment opportunities in the field of food security, with emphasis on obstacles, problems and challenges faced by the private sector. — ONA
