Canadian business delegation holds talks with Ithraa officials, visits MSM

MUSCAT: During its visit to the Sultanate, which aims at enhancing bilateral trade and investment cooperation, the Canadian business delegation on Tuesday met with officials at the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development ‘Ithraa’.


The Canadian delegation is led by Dennis Horak, Canadian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), non-resident Ambassador to the Sultanate.


The meeting reviewed the bilateral relations, the investment environment, the available business opportunities and the incentives provided by the Sultanate to investors.


The delegation reviewed the promising sector of priority for the Sultanate and the infrastructure and economic projects, which are expected to attract foreign investments during the upcoming period.


The two sides reviewed the opportunities for increasing the volume of reciprocal trade and means of increasing Omani exports to the Canadian market in particular and North American markets in general.


Nasima bint Yahya al Balushiyah, Director-General of Export Development, Acting Director-General of Investment Promotion, said that the Canadian business


delegation expressed its desire to create real partnership in the targeted sector.


The meeting was attended by Ayman bin Abdullah al Hassani, Deputy Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), Board member of Ithraa alongside with representatives of public and private organisations. The Canadian business delegation includes officials at the capital markets


and commercial banks, as well as CEOs for Canadian oil, gas and mineral companies.


VISITS MSM: Ahmed bin Saleh al Marhoon, Director-General of Muscat Securities Market (MSM), on Tuesday received a Canadian economic delegation of 15 members representing investors and companies from several economic sectors in Canada.


The meeting reviewed the investment opportunities available and discussed more opportunities for joint cooperation between the Sultanate and Canada in the securities sector and enhance cooperation between the MSM and the Toronto Stock Exchange in Canada. The Canadian delegation reviewed the Omani experience in the field of securities through a tour of the various sections of the market. — ONA
