MUSCAT: The book Major Changes in Education in the Sultanate of Oman, by Yahya bin Saud al Sulaimi (former minister of education), was presented to the US Library of Congress in Washington on Friday. The book contains the most important projects and educational programmes that have been achieved in the education sector in the Sultanate, thanks to the great interest shown by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos towards this sector.

The book reviews the beginnings of education and developments during different stages of the modern Renaissance in the Sultanate. The author reviews the stages of his autobiography and the positions he assumed as an important reference for current and future generations to perseverance and sincerity in the service of the nation.

Dr Muhannad al Salhi, a specialist in Arab affairs at the Library of Congress, expressed his pleasure to see the Arabic books in general and the Omani books at the Library of Congress, one of the largest and oldest libraries in the world. The book will be a reference for researchers and readers.

For his part, Salim bin Sultan al Abri, an expert in national initiatives, thanked the Library of Congress for its interest in the Omani books, its classification and its index, and wished the Omani books to be an exultant promotion of the Sultanate. Tanya Haralampiev, Business Development Manager at Oman magic establishment (Omanmagic.com) in Washington DC, said that the book is part of the company’s initiatives to promote the Sultanate, introduce its culture and achievements to the American people and demonstrate the progress and prosperity of the Sultanate under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos.
